The Longboat Key Public Interest Committee (PIC) is a civic organization dedicated to promoting good local government, encouraging fiscal responsibility, and protecting the environment. PIC’s mission is to provide a voice for the people of Longboat Key, whether full or part-time, independent of local politics that strives to:
- Promote good local government with fiscal responsibility
- Protect the environment
- Preserve Longboat Key as a premier residential community with supporting commercial and tourism services
To accomplish its mission PIC:
- Monitors Town business and government activities
- Encourages participation in Town affairs through PIC membership
- Attends Town government and related meetings
- Sponsors and conducts forums relative to topics of interest for the island
- Interviews candidates for Town office
- Communicates an independent citizen-oriented point of view through:
- LBKPIC.com, our website
- ”THE VOICE”, our newsletter to all Longboaters
- ”THE E-VOICE”, our e-Mail bulletins for PIC members that provides news bulletins and reviews of Town meetings that PIC deems significant.
Funding
All PIC funds come from membership dues and contributions. These funds are spent on our forums, member receptions, annual meeting, and the publication of “THE VOICE”, other media sources which may be used to keep the public informed, and maintaining our web page..
